ISLAMABAD (APP) – By planting a sapling here on Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif officially began the nationwide monsoon tree planting campaign.

Speaking at the event, the prime minister announced that, in order to protect the nation from the damaging effects of climate change that will severely affect it in 2022, he had ordered the relevant departments and institutions to plant at least 100 million saplings throughout the nation, including in Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K).

He said that planting trees will also contribute to a decrease in air pollution.
