LAHORE: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has been told by the Lahore High Court (LHC) to consider a new plea from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking permission to organize a demonstration at Minar-e-Pakistan on Independence Day.
The PTI petitioned Justice Ali Baqir Najafi to allow the demonstration at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 14. In this context, the government counsel filed a report at the LHC.
The government attorney said that August 14 is a national holiday and that large crowds may be seen at Minar-e-Pakistan.
Permission for the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party to hold protests on that day has also been rejected by the appropriate police stations.
