LAHORE: A hearing on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder’s bail requests has been scheduled by the Lahore High Court (LHC) in relation to eight instances involving the May 9 violent occurrences, including the attack on Jinnah House.
The applications will be heard by a two-member bench tomorrow, presided over by Chief Justice Aalia Neelam.
The bench ordered the attachment of a certified copy of the iddat case with one of the petitions on January 13 after dismissing the registrar’s office’s objections to seven of the bail applications.
In his appeals, the PTI founder said that his inclusion in these cases was the product of a political grudge and that he was in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad on May 9.
The petitions also asserted that political retaliation was the driving force behind the proceedings filed against him throughout the previous two years. He pleaded with the judge to drop the accusations and release him on bond.
It is important to remember that the PTI leader has previously had eight bail requests denied by the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court.
The PTI founder has been granted bail in four of the twelve counts that have been filed against him in Lahore in relation to the May 9 rallies.
