A police officer stated that Pakistani officials had released 22 Indian fisherman from Karachi’s Malir Jail and would begin their repatriation procedure on Friday.

Arshad Shah, the superintendent of Malir Jail, verified that the fishermen began their journey back to India once the appropriate paperwork on the Indian side were completed.
He emphasized that Pakistan attempts to guarantee that detainees are maintained in acceptable circumstances and freed as soon as they receive the necessary instructions.

Faisal Edhi, head of the Edhi Foundation, arranged for the fishermen’s transportation to Lahore, where they would continue their trip back to India. The Edhi Foundation paid their travel costs and gave them presents and cash.

Edhi also encouraged both governments to be more empathetic towards fishermen who mistakenly breach maritime boundaries.

He emphasized their families’ suffering throughout their lengthy detention and advocated for their early release and prompt repatriation once their sentences were ended.

Typically, Pakistani authorities repatriate Indian fisherman across the Wagah border, where Indian officials facilitate their return to coastal settlements after completing legal paperwork.
