DUBAI — India defeated New Zealand by four wickets to win the Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday at Dubai International Stadium.
New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first. This is India’s 15th consecutive loss in one-day internationals.
Daryl Mitchell led New Zealand’s scoring with 63 runs, while Michael Bracewell added a fast 53 to help the side finish on 251/7.
Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav both claimed two wickets for India.
In reply, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma struck 76 runs to assist his team cross the line. Iyer scored 48 runs while Gill scored 31 runs.
New Zealand skipper Santner took two wickets.
New Zealand entered the final without injured pacemaker Matt Henry, with Nathan Smith taking his place. India decided to continue with the same side that defeated Australia in the semi-finals.
In previous matchups, New Zealand beat India in the 2000 Champions Trophy final. In 2002, India and Sri Lanka shared the championship, while India won in 2013 by defeating England. However, in 2017, India suffered a humiliating 180-run defeat to Pakistan.
