ISLAMABAD (Channel News) – The nation is poised to celebrate Pakistan Day on Sunday (today) with a fresh commitment to working hard for the country’s growth and stability.
The day commemorates the adoption of the momentous Lahore Resolution in 1940, which established a framework for achieving the objective of a separate homeland for Muslims in South Asia.
The day will begin with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in regional capitals.
Mosques will offer special prayers for the country’s success, wealth, and development.
Due to the holy month of Ramazan, the Pakistan Day parade will be staged on a modest scale at Aiwan-e-Sadr. President Asif Ali Zardari will be the keynote guest at the event.
Contingents from all three military forces will take part in the parade.
Pakistani Air Force fighter planes will pass past.
In the afternoon, President Asif Ali Zardari will conduct an investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, during which he will present prizes and medals to individuals for their great contributions in various disciplines.
