Iran’s participation with the Taliban and the Afghan government in quest of a negotiated settlement in the war-torn nation was welcomed by Pakistan on Friday.
In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri stated, “Pakistan supports Iran’s involvement with Afghan parties to reach a negotiated political settlement.”
Pakistan sees Iran as a “essential country in the Afghan peace process,” according to Chaudhri.
“Iran, like Pakistan, is a neighbouring nation of Afghanistan, hosting millions of Afghan refugees,” Chaudhri explained.

He hoped Afghan parties would take advantage of the chance to “create an inclusive, broad-based, and comprehensive political solution.”
