WASHINGTON (Web Desk)– The US State Department said Friday that the US, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan have created a new diplomatic platform to support peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as build regional economic and business connections, as US soldiers continue their scheduled departure from the nation.
The parties believe long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan to be vital to regional connection, according to a statement released on Friday, and agree that peace and regional connectivity are mutually reinforcing.
The parties agreed to meet in the coming months, according to the statement.
On the other hand, while stressing the significance of peace in Afghanistan for neighbouring nations, Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that the war-torn people of Afghanistan are our brothers, and that we want to support them because Pakistan wants a political solution to the crisis.
“An agreement has been reached to create a new bloc on the Afghan issue,” the prime minister stated, adding that the new bloc will include Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, and Turkey, and will strive for a peaceful solution to the Afghan crisis.
