ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday slammed the Indian Ministry of External Affairs for making “gratuitous and inappropriate” statements on the recent incident involving the daughter of Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, according to Geo News.
In response to media inquiries concerning Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Zahid Hafeez’s statements about the event, Foreign Office spokeswoman Zahid Hafeez condemned the Indian ministry’s remarks, adding that “India has no locus standi, whatever, on the subject.”
He said that India’s destructive smear campaign against Pakistan is well-known, and independent organisations such as the EU DisinfoLab have proven India’s credentials as a global producer of anti-Pakistan misinformation.
Even in the aftermath of the alleged incident involving the Afghan Ambassador’s daughter, the spokesman claimed, Indian propaganda against Pakistan was active, with false images of the ambassador’s daughter being shared by Indian Twitter accounts and websites. It is regrettable that India exploited such an incident to spread a false narrative about Pakistan, according to his statement.
He claimed that the only domains in which India has set standards are state-sponsored terrorism, illegal occupation, disobedience of UN resolutions, mass murders and repression of women in territory under its illegal occupation, political violence against minorities, and running organised fake propaganda networks around the world; and that India is thus unqualified to pontificate on ‘standards.’
“We are committed to push back against continuous Indian manipulations and also to bring attention to India’s position as a spoiler in the ongoing Afghan peace process,” he added, calling on India to stop its smear propaganda campaign against Pakistan.
