LAHORE: Meera, a well-known actress in Pakistani cinema, has announced her candidacy for the governing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Meera stated that she has chosen to run for office on the PTI platform, and that she will conduct a news conference with party officials shortly.
“I’m fed up with the entertainment industry and have chosen to enter politics,” she said.
However, this will not be her first foray into politics; in 2013, she stated that she would run against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Sarfaraz Nawaz in the elections.
Meera ran for the NA-126 constituency in Lahore, using the black coat as her political emblem.
