LAHORE – The report of the inquiry into the Murree disaster has been given to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar, and 15 officers have been dismissed from their positions. Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, CPO, AC Murree, and others are among them.

In a news conference, the CM stated that action is being done by dismissing 15 officers from their positions in response to the inquiry committee’s findings. He stated that the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division was removed from his position and handed to the federal government, and that it was also suggested that they be suspended. DC Rawalpindi’s services have also been transferred to the federal government.

He added that it has been suggested that he be suspended and face disciplinary action.

AC Murree has been suspended, according to CM Buzdar, and disciplinary action has been initiated against him. ASP Murree has been relieved of his duties, and his services have been transferred to the federal government. It has been suggested that he be suspended and subjected to disciplinary action.

The Chief Minister also suspended CTO Rawalpindi, DSP Traffic, SE Highways Circle-2 Rawalpindi, XEN Highway Rawalpindi, XEN Highway Mechanical Rawalpindi, SDO Highway Mechanical Murree, Divisional Forest Officer Murree, District Emergency Officer Murree, Incharge Murree Rescue 1122, and Director PDMA Punjab.

Chief Minister Usman Bazdar described the Murree tragedy as “sad and exceedingly painful” in every way. He stated that this is a terrible tragedy, and that a high-level inquiry commission led by the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) has been formed to identify the causes and those responsible for the disaster. The Chief Minister stated that he had personally gone there to assess the situation.

“I promised a transparent investigation into the tragedy, as well as action against those involved, and that commitment has been honoured,” he continued.
