Wayne Parnell, a South African all-rounder, will miss Wednesday’s crucial one-day international against Bangladesh in Centurion due to a left hamstring strain, Cricket South Africa announced on Tuesday.

The injury to the 32-year-old all-rounder occurred during his team’s seven-wicket triumph on Sunday, which tied the three-match series at 1-1.

Officials noted that South Africa has also freed Ryan Rickelton from the ODI squad, allowing him to participate in domestic competition this week before joining the test squad over the weekend.

Despite his mother and two children being in hospital with an unexplained ailment, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hassan has decided to play in the final ODI.

He had intended to return home on Monday, but team officials announced on Tuesday that he had changed his mind and will play the final match of the limited over series before returning home and skipping the two test series.
