LAHORE, Pakistan (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Cricket Board today revealed further information on the first Pakistan Junior League Tournament, following an enormous and enthusiastic response from possible sponsors, partners, and entrepreneurs to the Request for Expressions of Interest.
Six city-based franchise teams will compete in the 19-match competition from 1-15 October at the Gaddafi Stadium, with players chosen through a draught method and each dugout boasting a renowned player who will act as the team’s mentor or coach.
Following Eid Al-Fitr, the PCB will launch a bidding process for live-streaming rights. This will be one of numerous rights up for grabs as the PCB continues to work closely with all stakeholders to move Pakistan cricket forward.
This will be the first 20-over league of its sort, with local under-19 players integrating with international players to share dugouts as part of their learning process and developing cricket skills, share expertise, and build towards their future bonding.
As part of the concept, each overseas cricketer will be permitted to bring a parent, with the cost covered by the event organiser or his franchise.
The Pakistan Junior League concept meshes nicely with the PCB Pathway Cricket Programme, which was just inaugurated. The cricket board and its strategic partners, including the BRB Group and Engro Corporation, have agreed to provide 100 best teenagers with monthly stipends of PKR30,000 each, scholarships at a premier educational institution, free cricket gear and equipment, and high performance coaching from leading and highly-qualified international coaches at the state-of-the-art National High Performance Centre.
“I am happy, inspired, and motivated by the reaction we have received in response to the Pakistan Junior League’s Request for Expressions of Interest,” said PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja.
“This feedback has reinforced my belief and confidence that we have a huge appetite for cricket and a strong commercial market that is eager, eager, and happy to partner with the PCB on its projects of introducing new properties so that we can strengthen ourselves financially and commercially, and the return on investment is shared with all cricketers.”
“Following the success of the HBL Pakistan Super League and the PCB’s ever-improving reputation, potential sponsors have expressed their excitement and interest in the city-based Pakistan Junior League in their endeavour to play an important role in helping the PCB create an environment of brilliance by providing a clear pathway to talented youngsters, which, in turn, will fortify our bench-strength and produce new national stars and heroes.”
“Our sport and organisation would not exist without the support of commercial partners and sponsors.” In light of this, I am grateful to everyone who has showed an interest in obtaining different rights for the Pakistan Junior League. I am positive and convinced that we will be able to establish a solid partnership that would provide rewards and developments for Pakistan cricket.”
