LAHORE – Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has been replaced as party president by his brother Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain by the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) General Council.
Party leaders and parliamentarians from Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Balochistan, and Azad Kashmir attended the general council meeting, which was place at the Muslim League. The council voted to fire Tariq Bashir Cheema from his position and replace him with Kamil Ali Agha as central secretary general.
Since the party’s decision to support the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and establish the government in Punjab, conflicts between Shujaat Hussain and Parvez Elahi have grown. This is evident in the decision.
A week after replacing Mr. Cheema with Moonis Elahi as the parliamentary leader of the National Assembly, Chaudhry Shaujaat Hussain has failed to remark on the situation.
Parvez Elahi’s party membership has previously been suspended by the former PML-Q president for suggesting that his party and the PTI may unite.
