CHICHAWATNI – Two persons, including a lady, were murdered and three others were wounded in an explosion on the Jaffar Express near Chichawatni on Thursday. The train was bound for Peshawar from Quetta.

According to Pakistan Railways spokesman Babar Ali, the incident happened when a cylinder exploded inside bogie number four of the train.

According to accounts, the train exploded as soon as it departed Mian Chanu, and the passengers continued to pull the emergency chain while the employees ignored them.

Rescue 1122 and the police arrived the location and began the investigation since the nature of the explosion was yet undetermined. The wounded and dead were sent to a local hospital.

Mohsin Naqvi, the interim Chief Minister of Punjab, took note of the occurrence and requested a report from the Inspector General of Punjab Police, as well as demanding an inquiry into it.

The CM asked the Commissioner, RPO, Deputy Commissioner, and DPO of Sahiwal to rush to the scene and offer the best possible care to the wounded.
