ANKARA: (Web Desk) – Under the “Turkey One Heart” initiative, which included the involvement of eight Turkish stations, prominent Turkish performers contributed $6 billion for earthquake-ravaged nation brethren.
More than 38000 people have died as a result of the earthquake as of today.
Hundreds of thousands of people, including children, adults, businesses, religious minority, organisations, and labour unions from Turkey and other countries, reacted to appeals to raise donations during the seven-hour event. Turkish TV superstars Nihat Hatipoglu, Pelin Cift, former model ala ikel, media mogul Acun Ilcal, and others moderated the live fundraiser.
On the other side, telecom firms sent over 9 million SMS messages to their customers urging them to contribute to quake relief efforts. Among the many well-known celebrities present on stage were “Love For Rent” actor Barş Arduç, TV presenter Esra Erol, and “Warrior” star Berk Oktay, as well as others.
