ISLAMABAD: According to a report released on Friday by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), textile exports totaled $10,039.743 million for the first seven months of the current fiscal year (2022-23)

As compared to the exports of $10,933.059 million during the same time previous year, the textile exports during the period showed a fall of 8.17%. (July-January 2021-22).

As compared to the same time previous year, textile exports increased over the months of July through January (2022–2023). Raw cotton exports increased by 134.77 percent, from $5.233 million to $12.286 million.

From $65.339 million to $74.122 million, tent, canvas, and tarpaulin exports increased by 13.44 percent.

Cotton yarn was among the textile products with a negative increase in trade, with exports falling by 34.66%, from $ 687.857 million to $449.419 million.

Cotton yarn (other than cotton yarn) decreased by 23.15 percent, from $34.031 million to $26.154 million, cotton (carded or combed) decreased by 9.34 percent, from $1.610 million to $0.947 million, knit-wear decreased by 2.93 percent, from $2,887.880 million to $2,803.298 million, bed wear decreased by 14.81 percent, from $1,924.030 million to $1,639.103 million, and towels decreased by 5.29 percent, from $61

In addition, exports of ready-made clothing fell by 1.71 percent, from $2,162.627 million to $2,125.698 million; exports of art, silk, and synthetic textile fell by 8.88 percent, from $262.519 million to $239.208 million; exports of made-up articles (aside from towels and bedwear), by 11.41 percent, from $491.091 million to $435.050 million; and exports of all other textile materials fell by 3.98 percent, from $443.955

As this was going on, the exports of textile items on a year-over-year (YoY) basis decreased by 14.83% in January 2023 to $ 1,321.768 million from exports of $ 1,551.890 million in January 2022.

According to PBS statistics, the exports of textile items declined by 2.53% on a month-over-month (MoM) basis in January 2022 compared to the exports of $2,356.061 million in December 2022.
