ISLAMABAD :– Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged officials on Tuesday to take prompt and effective steps to strengthen electricity transmission and load management systems in preparation for the summer season.

The prime minister, who was chairing a review meeting to address electricity transmission and load management, requested the necessary ministries to develop a solid and complete plan before summer arrived.

He directed that the plan for improved power transmission and load management be finalised as soon as possible before the summer.

The prime minister called for limited load shedding during Ramazan, saying it was encouraging that the amount of alternative energy and local fuels was growing for power production, decreasing reliance on imported fuels and, eventually, the import cost.

During a briefing on electricity production and load management, Prime Minister Shehbaz urged for immediate action to get the Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant fully operational.

He directed that the electricity and petroleum divisions, as well as other relevant departments, strengthen cohesion and cooperation in order to improve power transmission and load management.

At the briefing, the prime minister was informed that effective efforts were being made to reduce the impact of load shedding on the general public.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Engineer Khurram Dastgir, and Marriyum Aurangzeb, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Jahanzeb Khan, and top relevant officials.
