LAHORE – Captain of the national squad Babar Azam has the quickest 12,000 international runs.
The national team skipper became the eighth Pakistani hitter to accomplish this feat when he scored 49 runs off 46 balls against New Zealand in Rawalpindi.
Captain Babar Azam is now rated second among Asian batsmen with 12,000 runs scored, behind only Indian batsman Virat Kohli.
Pakistan defeated New Zealand by five wickets in the first of five ODI matches under Babar Azam’s leadership yesterday, and the national side also passed the 500-win mark in ODIs, making it the third team in the world to do so.
Previously, Australia and India held the record with 500 victories.
