Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI and a former prime minister, filed a bail plea in matters involving the Al-Qadir Trust and other entities. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will continue hearing on this appeal.
A divisional bench made up of Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz and Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb announced that the case will be heard at 2:30 pm following a break for Friday prayers. After the former PM entered the courthouse under heavy protection, the session was postponed.
A sizable force of PTI attorneys and leaders were present in the court while FC and Rangers, as well as the police, were heavily stationed to prevent any undesirable circumstances.
The judge questioned Mr. Khan throughout the hearing about whether he had access to a phone to call his wife. He said that while he was unable to reach Bushra Bibi, he spoke on the phone with PTI leader Musarrat Jamshed Cheema.
Some spectators shouted Imran Khan supporter during the proceedings, which infuriated the judges. It would be difficult to continue the proceedings in such a setting, according to Justice Aurangzeb. At that point, PTI’s attorneys declared that they had nothing to do with the sloganeering and asked the judge to issue a warrant for the offender’s arrest.
The hearing was then postponed by the judge until 2:30 PM.
