The former prime minister Imran Khan was granted bail on Friday by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), postponing his arrest until May 17.

The decision, which was made by a division bench made up of Justices Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Saman Rafat Imtiaz, is expected to ease the unrest that erupted in the nation when the former premier was imprisoned.

The panel earlier resumed its proceedings after a brief break for Friday prayers and granted Mr. Khan bail in the Al-Qadir Trust case for a term of two weeks. The session was two hours late and abruptly ended as soon as the former premier entered the courtroom under heavy security.
