Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League and a former interior minister, said on Saturday that the country’s judicial system had prevented civil war and chaos.
Sheikh Rashid wrote on the social media platform Twitter that the entire country supported the powerful army. A showy rally was not necessary for the troops.
The army also demanded that national coffer thieves and money launderers be held responsible in accordance with the constitution and the law. The country’s plundered money, Mr. Rashid said, should be brought back to it. He said that the conspirators were defeated and that the people won.
Shehbaz Sharif ought to vacate his position as prime minister rather than demonstrate in front of the Supreme Court.
