RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir pledged on Saturday to bring to account all those responsible for damage on the ‘Black Day’ of May 9.

The army commander made the remarks while visiting the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the ISPR, the army commander said that the armed forces will not allow any further attempts to violate the sanctity and security of its facilities or vandalism. “We will continue our efforts for peace and stability, and there will be no room for process spoilers,” the COAS was reported as saying.

The COAS also addressed Corps commanders, emphasising the increasing risks to national security.

According to the ISPR, the army commander was also briefed on the problems of information warfare and attempts to create misperceptions. He emphasised that hostile groups were making a deliberate effort to strike the armed forces. He promised that such unscrupulous activities will be stopped with the help of Pakistanis.

Gen Munir was also given a full briefing on the current security situation and continuing counter-terrorism activities during his visit. He praised law enforcement agencies’ professional ability, performance, and accomplishments in the continuing struggle against terrorism.
