Sonakshi Sinha, a Bollywood actress, has said that she regrets turning down a part early in her career.
Sonakshi said in an interview in 2018 that she was given Kareena Kapoor’s Udta Punjab part, but she turned it down.
Despite not being in the film, the Dabangg actress said that she enjoyed it and confessed to phoning director Abhishek Chaubey and members of the cast after the film’s release to laud their efforts.
Udta Punjab, directed by Anurag Kashyap, starred Kareena as a doctor and activist who runs a rehabilitation centre.
When the film was renamed #UdtaPunjab by the censor board in 2016, Sonakshi came out in favour, writing on Twitter, “I truly don’t know what #UdtaPunjab should be changed to… However, the Censor Board must evaluate the name #UdtaMazaak.”
Whereas Sonakshi Sinha regrets turning down the part, some social media users feel Kareena Kapoor would have done a better job, according to News 18.
“Kareena’s role demanded a very understated performance that should not go unnoticed.” Shahid and Alia underwent physical transformations and experimented with accents.
“Their characters had all of our sympathies, but we remember Dr. Preet.” “Kareena didn’t let anyone overshadow her, but if it had been Sonakshi, I’m afraid she would’ve gotten lost in the crowd,” one social media user said.
