A hand grenade accidentally exploded in a police station in Khyber region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Thursday night, killing two officers and injuring another.

According to KP police, the bomb exploded in the palm of a police official during a regular inspection at the police station, killing two officers named Shah Muhammad and Aslam. DSP Muhammad Nawaz sustained injuries.

The injured and deceased were sent to a local hospital. Police officials have strongly refuted claims of an attack on the police station, claiming that the explosion was an accident.
