Ijazul Haq, Chairman of the Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (PML-Z), has refuted allegations of a merger between his party and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Ijaz, the son of former army head General Ziaul Haq, denied the rumours in response to a letter from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on May 5 asking him to clarify his party’s status and intra-party polls for the next general elections.

He denied that rumours of a merger between the PML-Z and the PTI were true.
