The arrest of PTI employees in connection with the demonstrations on May 9 was authorised by a deputy commissioner order, which the Peshawar High Court (3 MPO) on Wednesday declared unlawful.

After hearing the arguments from the parties involved, a two-member bench made up of Justice Shakeel Ahmed and Justice Waqar Ahmed pronounced its reserved judgement a day earlier.

The bench ordered police to release everyone held under this provision after declaring the 3 MPO notification invalid.

The people must present surety bonds before being released, according to the top court’s order. Additionally, if the suspects are wanted in any other case, it instructed the authorities to take immediate action.
