In the event that the brother of Shahzad Akbar, a former adviser to the PTI leader, is not presented before the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, would be summoned, the court has warned.

On Friday, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani issued the caution while deliberating a petition calling for the return of Murad Akbar, who was allegedly abducted by law enforcement officers.

On May 31, the court ordered the capital police to turn over Murad within two days.

A first information report (FIR) filed with the Shalimar police station claims that on May 28, Murad was “abducted” from his apartment in Islamabad by members of several law enforcement organisations.
