The detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shehryar Afridi and his wife was ruled unlawful by the Islamabad High Court on Monday.

After hearing the arguments against Mr. Afridi and his wife’s incarceration, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir issued an order prohibiting their arrest within the city limits of Islamabad.

The court stated in its comprehensive decision that the former federal minister should be brought before the appropriate court, and that if no attempt was made in this direction, parties would be held in contempt of court.
