The hearing on the Election Commission’s (ECP) review appeal against the Supreme Court (Review of Judgement and Orders) Act and its decision to hold elections in Punjab was postponed by the Supreme Court on Wednesday until June 13.
The review petition submitted by the ECP, the federal and provincial governments, and the Supreme Court orders act was considered by a three-member bench presided over by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, and Justice Muneeb Akhtar.
Previously, the panel combined arguments against the recently passed Review Act, 2023 with the ECP’s suit against its April 4 decision to hold elections for the Punjab Assembly on May 14.
