As Cyclone Biparjoy drew nearer to Sindh’s coastline on Tuesday, evacuation efforts were under way there.
As “Cyclone Biparjoy” approaches Karachi, which is only 470 kilometres away, Pakistan Army personnel, assisted by the civilian administration, are in the process of evacuating people along the country’s coastline and removing mobile infrastructure.
In Karachi, Hyderabad, and other areas of Sindh, severe rains are also anticipated at any time due to the cyclone.
Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister, declared on Monday that 32,466 people in Karachi’s Sujawal, Badin, and Thatta districts, as well as occupants of over 70 structures, were at risk from the cyclone.
