Sheikh Rashid, the leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML), stated on Wednesday that the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s decision to resurrect the bailout package for cash-strapped Pakistan would become obvious in the following 48 hours.

The former interior minister predicted in a series of tweets that after the IMF agreement, 300 billion rupees worth of new taxes will be levied.

He joked that although former finance minister Miftah Ismail had obtained an IMF tranche, Ishaq Dar was unable to halt the depreciation of the rupee and restore the economy.
