A representative for the Foreign Office stated in a statement that such deliberate incitement to prejudice, hatred, and violence cannot be excused under the guise of freedom of expression and protest.
States have a responsibility under international law to forbid any propagation of religious hatred that incites bloodshed. The legal system that allows for such hate-driven conduct is seriously questioned in light of the recent recurrence of such Islamophobic occurrences in the West.
