On Tuesday, the Supreme Court rejected a request to halt the prosecution’s efforts to charge the PTI chairman in the Quetta murder of a well-known lawyer.
The defence had asked the court to obtain a stay order because they opposed to their client’s nomination in the murder case. But a two-judge panel made up of Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Ayesha Malik also rejected the request to quash the non-bailable warrants that had been issued for the accused.
The bench noted that since the plea had been rejected by a two-member high court bench, the two-member Supreme Court bench was unable to grant a stay.
