Following China’s foreign minister’s nearly month-long retreat from the public eye, British Foreign Minister James Cleverly postponed a scheduled trip to Beijing this month, according to a Friday report by Bloomberg News.

According to the article, which also cited two persons with knowledge of the situation, the absence of Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang was the key factor in the foreign secretary’s decision to postpone his trip.

China was predicted to act cleverly at the end of this month. According to Bloomberg, the two nations are considering other dates.

An inquiry for comment was not immediately answered by the British foreign ministry.
