Mahmood Khan, a former chief minister of Punjab, was one of 22 leaders whose membership in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was cancelled on Saturday.
The change happened after Khattak established the PTI MPs’ breakaway faction. Shafiq Afridi, Ziaullah Bangash, Ishtia Urmar, Iqbal Wazeer, Yaqoob Sheikh, and Wilson Wazeer were further party leaders who had been kicked out.
Omar Ayub Khan, the secretary general of the PTI, gave the defections notice.
After leaving the original party earlier this month, Khattak established his own political organization.
Khattak will serve as the leader of the party, which will be known as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Parliamentarians).
