ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – There will be no hearing on Thursday (today) on a plea filed by the PTI chairman, who had asked the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to transfer him from the Attock jail to Adiala [Central Jail Rawalpindi] owing to the absence of Chief Justice Amir Farooq.
The court was also scheduled to hear another petition requesting that home-cooked meals be provided to the imprisoned PTI chairman, who is now serving a three-year sentence at District Jail Attock after being convicted in the Toshakhana case.
In response to the plea, Chief Justice Farooq questioned the Punjab government and the prison officials about the home-cooked food.
During the last hearing, the IHC chief judge requested a report on the grounds for holding the convicted leader in the District Jail Attock and if he could get home-cooked food.
The court noticed that nothing in the record prohibited the prisoner from having more than one meeting per week and instructed that the PTI chief be permitted to meet with relatives, friends, and attorneys in accordance with prison procedures.
Furthermore, the IHC ordered the provision of a prayer mat and the Holy Quran with English translation to the PTI chairman, as well as the expansion of required medical facilities.
