LAHORE – On Monday, the Lahore High Court reaffirmed a single bench ruling prohibiting the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in any unspecified matter.

After hearing the subject of giving bail to former chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in secret cases, a two-member LHC panel led by Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan issued the judgment.

The Punjab government has appealed the single bench’s verdict to the Supreme Court.

Previously, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced an inquiry report on Parvez Elahi’s suspected wrongdoing in contract awarding.

According to the NAB findings, the PTI leader authorized 116 development initiatives for Gujarat with the help of his close associates.

The study also accused the ex-chief minister of abusing his position and power.

The NAB accused him of abusing his position to allocate scheme contracts to his preferred contractors.
