BAHAWALNAGAR, PAKPATTAN, AND ARIFWALA A greater number of the villages in Arifwala, Pakpattan, and Bahawalnagar have been destroyed by large river floods.

More villages in Arifwala were flooded. Arifwala has been under water for several kilometers. A large area of the district was filled with scenes of devastation.

Due to flooded and damaged roads, many regions’ land connections to neighboring locations were severed. Floodwater devastated crops covering hundreds of acres of land. Thousands of individuals were being relocated to safer locations.

While this was happening, the Sutlej flood proceeded to cause havoc in Pakpattan. Numerous settlements were destroyed by the floodwaters, which submerged hundreds of homes.

Residents of the area were shifting their families and belongings to avoid loss. District administration had set up shanty towns for the flood victims along the river.

Six shanty towns had been set up for the displaced families. However, the shanty towns looked deserted due to lack of facilities for the flood victims. People claimed these shanty towns were made only for photo sessions.

In Manchanabad, Sutlej River had high flood level at the Baba Farid Bridge. Land connection of more than 150 settlements was cut off from other areas due to flood torrents.

Fields and passageways were seen submerged under 7-8 feet floodwater. People were trapped in their houses. An emergency rescue operation was underway in the area.

On the other hand, the water level in Sutlej River at Bhokan Pattan was continuously rising. After 35 years, a big flood torrent was passing through Bhokan Pattan area of Bahawalnagar. The water level at Head Sulaimanki was 1,55,330 cusecs.

Several villages in Chavika, Mari Mian Sahib, and Santhika have been submerged due to breaches in the protective dykes and a rapid water flow. Residents were relocating to safer locales from the damaged areas.Highways were inundated in a number of locations, cutting off more than 50 settlements’ access to land.
The Pakistan Army is still conducting substantial relief efforts in the recent flood-affected areas. Ganda Singh Wala, Dhap Sari, Attari, Ghati Kalanger, Ullake, Jumma Wala, Kamalpura, and Bakarke are some of the regions affected by the flooding. The military’s rescue forces use boats to move the population to safer locations.
