According to media sources, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi resigned from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) due to disagreements on how to buy LNG from Azerbaijan.

This development comes after PM Shehbaz Sharif claimed on Friday that there was place in the PML-N, the ruling party, for individuals who were critical of and scheming against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

According to reports, Abbasi supported the import of LNG by a private business and opposed the government-to-government accord.
