Namira Salim has become Pakistan’s first astronaut, which is a cause for celebration.

Namira’s effort raised the Pakistani flag to new heights and brought her widespread praise. She was one of five people aboard the Virgin Galactic VSS Unity spacecraft, which also had three other passengers, a commander, and a co-pilot.

The mission departed on a sub-orbital trajectory from Spaceport America in New Mexico, the first commercial spaceport ever built specifically for commercial use.
