DHAKA: Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan batted patiently to propel Pakistan to an eight-wicket victory against Bangladesh in the second T20I here on Saturday at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The left-right batting combo batted brilliantly to amass 85 runs together as Pakistan won the three-match series 2-0 with one match remaining.
Fakhar scored 57 runs off 51 balls, including two boundaries and three sixes, while Rizwan scored 39 off 45 balls, including four boundaries.
Mustafizur Rehman and Aminul Islam each took a wicket for Bangladesh.
Earlier, Pakistani bowlers were on fire, with immaculate line and length, limiting host side Bangladesh to 108-7 in 20 overs.
Bangladesh lost their openers for just five runs after electing to bat first in a second T20I. Najmul Hussain Shanto and Afif Hossian batted together for 47 runs to help the home team reach 51-2 in eight overs.
Shadab Khan struck on the first delivery of the ninth over to remove Hossain, who walked off having scored 20 from 21 balls, leaving Bangladesh behind at 51-3. The Bangladeshi captain escaped on a review off Shadab’s over, but it wasn’t too late when Haris Rauf removed him. He made 12 out of 15 shots, including a bounda.
Shanto was undefeated with a total of 40 points off 34 shots distributed across five boundaries.
Shadab Khan took two wickets for Pakistan, followed by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who also took two wickets. Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Haris each had one wicket.
