According to the RIA news agency, Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, said on Thursday that French President Emmanuel Macron would not be a suitable guest at the BRICS summit. Ryabkov was condemning nations whose policies Russia views as hostile.

A meeting of the BRICS bloc of developing nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg in August.
