WASHINGTON (Reuters) — Washington will provide Israel $3.5 billion to spend on US weaponry and military equipment, the State Department announced on Friday, months after Congress allocated the funds during Israel’s conflict in Gaza.

A State agency official said on Friday that the agency informed Congress on Thursday that the administration intended to deliver billions of dollars in foreign military aid to Israel.

CNN previously reported on the disbursement of this money, which stems from a $14 billion supplemental funding measure for Israel enacted by Congress in April.
