ISLAMABAD: According to The News, US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R Sherman stated on Friday that she believes President Joe Biden would speak with Prime Minister Imran Khan shortly.

The senior US ambassador told a group of editors that the Biden administration was well aware of Pakistan’s worries over a bill presented in the US Senate during an interview.

“We have a hunch that every country wants to speak with the President of the United States on the phone. I am confident that this talk with Imran Khan will take place shortly.”

“I am convinced that this interaction will take place soon, so I don’t believe it should indicate anything else,” Sherman stated in response to a query.

“I don’t think there’s any need for any further conjecture about why we haven’t talked on the phone yet.”

“We get hundreds of bills; thousands of individuals are behind them,” Sherman said in response to a query on a bill introduced by 22 Republican senators in September that targeted Pakistan. “We are well aware of Pakistan’s concerns and are attentively looking at the issue.”

Pakistan’s message to the United States.
Pakistan delivered a clear message to the United States that it was dedicated to building a broad-based, long-term, and sustainable partnership with the US, based on economic cooperation, regional connectivity, and regional peace.

Afghanistan was simply one of numerous issues in their bilateral ties, and the key was to maintain a regular and organised conversation process between them, which was essential for promoting shared regional interests and achieving shared regional goals.

The US emphasised the importance of Pakistan’s long-standing relationship with the US, and the two countries agreed to maintain close communication and coordination on issues such as the situation in Afghanistan, security and counter-terrorism, trade and investment, climate change, economic cooperation, and regional connectivity.

During delegation level meetings at the Foreign Office, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and US Deputy Secretary of State Ms. Wendy R. Sherman expressed their views. Afghanistan, bilateral relations, and regional peace and stability were among the topics discussed.
