The police report on the purported kidnapping of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML) and a former federal minister, was deemed unsatisfactory by the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench on Friday.

The case filed for the return of Sheikh Rashid, his nephew Sheikh Shakir, and staff member Sheikh Imran was heard by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan.

The Rawalpindi police report was rejected by the court as being unacceptable, and on September 26 the RPO was formally called.

Rashid was detained in Islamabad, according to the CPO for Rawalpindi. He stated, “We know nothing about it.

The court expressed its amazement and questioned how it was possible that police were unaware of the arrest.
