LAHORE – The Lahore High Court has requested a response from Nepra (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) to a petition filed against the unreasonable increase in energy bills for clients who use more than 200 units, depending on protective and non-protective tariffs.

Justice Rasaal Hasan Syed of the Lahore High Court presided over the proceedings, which included an argument by counsel Azhar Siddique on behalf of the petitioner.

The lawyer argued that Nepra’s exploitative policy should be declared unconstitutional and repealed, claiming that instead of reducing electricity theft, ordinary consumers had been burdened with the whole loss caused as a result of power theft.

He also accused power distribution firms of overcharging.
