ISLAMABAD: Richard Grenell’s tweet about the release of PTI founder Imran Khan has drawn criticism from Sajid Tarar, a former political counselor to US President Donald Trump, according to A News.
According to reports, Tarar questioned the tweet’s legitimacy, stating that it appeared to be from a Pattoki (a city in Punjab’s Kasur District) PTI supporter.
According to Tarar, Trump’s team wouldn’t send out such a lighthearted tweet. He also asked Grenell why the current event in Germany had not been tweeted.
He underlined that the people of Pakistan should handle their own problems, and he expressed his wish that no sincere person would tweet about it.
Richard Grenell, the presidential envoy for special missions appointed by US President-elect Donald Trump, had earlier expressed his desire to see Imran Khan, the former prime minister and founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), released from prison.
“There are a lot of the same allegations just like President Trump, where the ruling party put him in prison and created some sort of corruption allegations and false allegations,” Richard Grenell stated in an interview with a US news station.
