ISLAMABAD – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday suspended Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s non-bailable arrest warrant.
The warrants were stayed following an application made by Gandapur’s lawyer, Faisal Malik. The court issued an arrest warrant for Gandapur in a complaint filed by Hassan Abdal police in connection with the November 26 demonstration.
Advocate Faisal said that the Peshawar High Court granted his client bail in all instances. He delivered the high court’s order to the ATC, and the court suspended the warrant.
The ATC also terminated the procedures to declare Gandapur a proclaimed criminal.
On December 27, the ATC commenced proceedings to make him a proclaimed offender for failing to appear before it. The court ordered the police to verify compliance and provide a report by January 21.
