PESHAWAR – Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud and his security were injured in a shooting incident in the Bagan region on Saturday.

The event occurred shortly after the first convoy transporting commodities from Tal to Parachinar began its route following a ceasefire accord.

Following the horrific occurrence, three more security officers were injured and sent to the hospital.

Barrister Saif, the KP government’s Information Adviser, witnessed the convoy’s departure, which came only days after local peace committees made up of tribal, political, and communal elders promised to restore peace in Kurram.

The deputy commissioner was transferred to a hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable. His bodyguard is also receiving treatment at the hospital.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the ineptitude of the provincial government.

Barrister Saif said that the deputy commissioner and his security were immediately sent to Alizai Hospital. He stated that the DC was stable and will likely be transported to Peshawar by chopper.

He stated that cars transporting commodities to Parachinar had been temporarily halted.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari denounced the event, which they termed as an effort to undermine the peace process. They promised to bring the guilty to justice.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also denounced the attack on the Kurram district administration’s vehicles. He stated that the country’s opponents do not desire peace, and that the government will go to whatever length to combat them.
